This final report detailing project activities completed within the contract year was submitted to the grant funder. The primary goal of this project was to enhance tobacco cessation and prevention among the behavioral health population by expanding capacity building efforts for health agencies and providers; providing trainings, technical assistance, and logistical support; and collaborating with key stakeholders.
This internal agenda is created each year for team members in planning for the annual statewide Best Practices Conference, attended by 100+ healthcare providers, public health professionals, local health department and other tobacco control personnel. The agenda lays out room set-up and organization, team roles and tasks including scripts for each member, and equipment needed to successfully complete the conference.
This grant proposal (response to RFA) was written to obtain funding for the MDQuit center to serve as the tobacco control resource center, Maryland TCRC, for the state of Maryland. Shown here is the project narrative outlining capacity, experience with carrying out related deliverables, proposed work plan including data and performance measures, and projected timeline. The MDQuit center was awarded the grant to serve as Maryland TCRC.
This palm card was developed for the Regrounding Our Response (RoR) Curriculum Development and Master Presenter Training initiative to help address the opioid overdose crisis in Maryland. The palm card was provided to master presenters to use during trainings and presentations for community members, substance use facilities, and other stakeholders for educational and promotional purposes.
This research article describes findings from a complex two-year, self-designed study conducted to evaluate the knowledge of mental illness as a risk factor for cardiovascular disease and perceived susceptibility to developing cardiovascular disease among individuals with mental illness. Also included is the instrument developed specifically for this research study to assess knowledge and perceived susceptibility.
This presentation was developed for the 17th and final statewide Best Practices Conference, attended by 100+ healthcare providers, public health professionals, local health department and other tobacco control personnel. This presentation covers various activities and initiatives of the tobacco control resource center, including website updates, various trainings, and evaluation efforts.

This evaluation proposal outlines the protocol for evaluating a self-designed, year-long health intervention, In SHAPE Together, that aimed to improve the physical health of individuals with serious mental illness in Prince George’s County, Maryland. Included is the conceptual model of the mechanisms of effect, study design flowchart, and intervention measures.
These articles were featured on the cover of MDQuit newsletters and distributed to local health departments, providers, and public health agencies and professionals in Maryland. Shown here are three articles on 1) smoking and COVID-19, 2) the prioritized population of pregnant smokers, and 3) an overview of the nationwide implementation of Tobacco 21.
This policy synthesis report provides an in-depth analysis of the effects of the Affordable Care Act on the integration of primary and behavioral health care systems and its impact on individuals with comorbid health conditions. Included is an overview of relevant provisions and limitations in implementation, as well as recommendations for policy and practice.
