Dr. Carlo DiClemente
Emeritus Professor of Psychology & Director
Maryland Tobacco Control Resource Center
Center for Community Collaboration
I am very pleased to recommend Reshma Roy. She is currently the Project Director for my state funded Maryland Tobacco Control Resource Center, housed in the Psychology Department at the University of Maryland Baltimore County. Ms. Roy is an exceptional employee. We hired her several years ago when we were looking for a team player with good communication skills to interact with all our stakeholders around the state, who is also organized and able to work with and manage a small group of staff. Reshma has excelled in fulfilling these expectations. She is one of the most organized and task oriented individuals I have worked with, and I have been overseeing centers and projects for over 40 years. Her greatest task was to manage and help me to make realistic goals and implementation plans, which she did with skill and sensitivity. She is an intelligent woman with multiple skills who is a quick study – expertly grasping the crux of our project despite very little overlap with the prior Project Director. She will quickly become a valued and valuable employee and member of your organization. I recommend her to you with great enthusiasm and no hesitation.
I want to give you some examples of Reshma’s abilities and temperament. She has been able to navigate our way through the pandemic so that the Center has been able to continue to provide services and meet deliverables without losing a step. We provide training and technical assistance to a variety of agencies and programs around the state. Reshma was able to step right in and set up meetings and organize trainings that connected providers, teachers, pharmacists, and behavior health agency staff and leadership to relevant resources and trainings. She has organized and run our Best Practices Conference for tobacco control, a daylong event with multiple keynote and workshop presenters, shifting from what was formerly an in-person conference to a virtual event with seeming ease. I am sure she would say that managing the staff’s stress, scheduling and herding the presenters, and getting the unresponsive Zoom provider to make the virtual part work was not a simple task. However, Reshma did it all without complaint and with skill and grace, making sure that everything went smoothly.
She also has a calm demeanor and good people skills that enable her to work with a diverse group of staff and providers. She has a broad perspective on tasks and strategies and can see the details as well as the bigger picture. She is well positioned for a role as a member or leader of a team in your organization. As you can see I am very enthusiastic about Reshma Roy and her talents, work ethic, skills, and personal presence. I think she would be a wonderful addition to the work of your organization. I recommend her to you highly.
Dr. Ashley Pantaleao
Health Division Researcher
American Institutes for Research
I enthusiastically recommend Reshma Roy. Reshma was the Project Director and my direct supervisor for two years while I worked as a Project Assistant for the Maryland Tobacco Control Resource Center. Although I had no prior training in website management or the topic of smoking cessation, Reshma would take the time to guide me through the steps to learn these new skills. She is very detail-oriented and had me and others report our progress on tasks using Asana, a task management platform whose use she instituted, to make sure timelines on tasks were being met.
Working remotely, it was important for team members to have clear communication. Reshma was always clear and direct with her expectations of tasks and providing feedback. She additionally would make herself available to discuss questions I had during our weekly meeting. Reshma always treated me with respect which allowed us to have open and meaningful conversations about how to move tasks forward. This was personally significant to me as it bolstered my courage to voice my opinion during our 1-on-1 meetings or larger team meetings with stakeholders we often worked with. Reshma is someone that has a very proactive mindset and has the ability to be contextually aware, which I believe are some of her best attributes. I genuinely appreciated working with Reshma and believe she would excel in any position.
Dr. Mira Mehta
Director (Retired)
Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program
I highly recommend Reshma as a candidate for employment. She worked under my supervision at EFNEP. She was responsible for conducting research and literature reviews to support the justification for conducting an intervention, developing a repository of resources to launch a child feeding media campaign, and creating various deliverables, which she completed successfully.
She is also a very attentive and ambitious individual who takes every task seriously. She is excellent at multitasking, managing the various projects at her internship along with graduate school and other jobs effortlessly. She goes above and beyond on every task and her enthusiasm and passion comes through in all that she does. She also has excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Her pleasant and courteous demeanor makes her a wonderful addition to any workplace.

Reshma will be an asset to any position she fills. I am confident that you will be just as impressed with Reshma as I am and I strongly endorse Reshma.
Ms. Terri Harold
Administrative Coordinator (Retired)
Maryland Tobacco Control Resource Center
Reshma Roy is a sophisticated and skilled professional who takes a thoughtful approach toward successful completion of project deliverables and operational tasks. Her multiple and varied contributions (e.g., organization and conduct of meetings, trainings, presentations, and conferences; writing of reports and other communications, etc.) are always impeccably prepared. The quality of Reshma’s work is due to her conscientiousness, attention to detail, and her awareness of our resource center’s mission and the goals of the groups we serve. Reshma also has a creative side that allows her to design informational materials that are both eye-catching and comprehensive in their display of intricate ideas.
As the Project Director, Reshma’s strong but subtle leadership style effectively motivates colleagues and team members to perform and produce at optimum levels. Notably, she is not above joining in as a boots-on-the-ground member of the team. Collaborating and brainstorming with Reshma is always stimulating and productive. She is receptive to integrating the ideas of others with her own to create an impressive result that is a true group effort. She is quick to credit the input of others, but humble about her own valuable contributions. Reshma consistently devotes the time and effort needed to ensure that all work coming out of the resource center meets the high standards that she sets. Any organization wise enough to bring Reshma on board will certainly reap the benefits of her skills, competence, and integrity.
Dr. Kavitha Sankavaram
State Outreach Coordinator & Program Evaluator
Expanded Food & Nutrition Education Program
I have worked closely with Reshma during her employ at EFNEP. She worked under my supervision both as a public health intern and as a data analyst a few years ago. She completed all her work and performed all duties diligently.

Reshma is bright, dedicated, and a fast and eager learner, who works well independently and takes initiative to ensure that her work exceeds expectations. She is very detail-oriented, organized, and passionate about her work and is constantly looking to expand her skills and tackle new challenges. As part of a special project in the EFNEP program, Reshma reviewed literature carefully, designed a case study protocol, and developed data collection instruments to evaluate the program.

She also worked with me in analyzing data on a childhood obesity prevention project implemented through safety-net clinics. She is a careful thinker with an eye for details and has a great ability to draw conclusions from the data.

At a personal level, Reshma is well-disciplined and industrious with a pleasant personality and a positive attitude. I am confident that she has the determination, intelligence, and work ethic to add value wherever she works. She will be a wonderful asset to any employer, and I recommend Reshma for any endeavor she chooses to pursue.
Dr. Evelyn King-Marshall
Graduate Coordinator and Assistant Professor
Behavioral and Community Health
University of Maryland, College Park
I have had the pleasure of knowing Ms. Reshma Roy for 2.5 years as both an academic mentee and supervisor. In January 2017, Reshma joined my instructional team for HLTH 366, Behavioral and Community Issues in Public Health. For 3 semesters, she was responsible for independently leading two class sections of 24 students each.
Throughout the semester, the students created a public health prevention program based on real Healthy People 2020 goals for real populations. Reshma used her knowledge and expertise in health education, public health planning and evaluation to lead her groups to a successful conclusion of the semester. From day one, Reshma displayed competence communicating with a diverse student body, responded effortlessly to issues and concerns, and adapted to unexpected circumstances. Furthermore, Reshma excelled as a TA while maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA, and various other extracurricular activities.
To follow up on this experience, I had the honor of serving on Reshma’s Thesis Committee. Her master’s thesis stood out from her peers including survey development, primary data collection and analysis. Throughout this process she showed initiative – developed the research questions and avenues for data collection, adaptability – amending her initial data collection protocol when sample size and survey completion became a problem, and dependability and responsibility – working tirelessly to enroll recruitment sites, and recruit participations patient by patient. Predictably, Reshma finished the program with a well-written and researched master’s thesis.
In summary, this is just a brief introduction to the many reasons I enthusiastically endorse Ms. Reshma Roy.
